DESCRIPTION

USE

Enyangwa is grown by few people and many of them only use the fruits.
The leaves of enyangwa are not eaten as freshly cooked. They are always made into evanda first.  When this evanda eventually is prepared for eating it is not mixed with eliwa (cooking melon).

POTENTIAL FOR CULTIVATION

The potential for cultivation is uncertain. Like most pumpkins and melons, Citrullus grows well in Namibia but it does not seem that farmers use the leaves very often. Other species seem to be more popular if they are available.

SIMILAR SPECIES

There is a large number of similar species growing wild or semi-cultivated in Namibian fields.
