No vernacular names were recorded |
Pest status:
|
The disease status is unknown. |
Description:
|
Young leaves turn grey among the healthy leaves. Older leaves turn
bronze and plants may die off. Although the bronze leaf colours look like
nematode attack in for instance Swiss Chard, they are quite different from
the pale green leaves caused by nematodes in Bambaranut. |
Control:
|
Control is not recommended at present. |
Other notes:
|
Little is known about the pests
and diseases of Bambaranuts. During the coming season the pest work on
Bambaranut will continue.
Leaf diseases and symptoms are quite
rare in northern Namibia because of the dry climate. This disease may,
however, be promoted by irrigation during the off season. |
