The pest staus is unknown, but the
species seems too rare to be of any importance. |
Distribution:

Bauhinia Bagworm was only found
in two specimens on a Bauhinia bush in a garden in Oshakati, Oshana region.
The specimens did not hatch. |
Description:
|
Bagworms are peculiar in that the
females do not have wings but stay in the bag all their life span. When
males hatch they fly around in search for a female bag. They can penetrate
the female bag and fertilize the eggs. |

No control is recommended until
the pest status and biology of this bagworm has been established. |
Other notes:

In northern Namibia, other species
of bagworms are much more common. One is found on Mopane trees (Mopane
Bagworm), another one on grasses and sometimes vegetables (sand
bagworm) |
