Common names: No vernacular names have been recorded.

Pest status:

The pest status of cotton stainer in Namibia is still unknown. Cotton is a new crop under promotion in the country and cotton stainers may become more common as the cotton area increases.

Distribution:

Cotton stainers have been observed in cotton fields during year 2000 at Ondobe and Omundaungilo, both in Ohangwena region. Most likely, they will turn up wherever cotton is grown.

Description:

The stainer seems to turn up rather late in the season when cotton bolls begin to open.

Control:

No control is recommended until the pest status of cotton stainer has been established.
